Transitions with very special guest Fredrik Lundin

Posted on

As part of my concert series “Markus Strothmann trifft…”, Transitions will be playing with the great Danish saxophone player Fredrik Lundin. Fredrik is professor for jazz saxophone at the conservatory in Kopenhagen and plays in great bands such as the “Marylin Mazur Group”.

I met Fredrik at the Wdr Jazznight…

…actually after the WDR Jazznight in the theater in Gütersloh, where I played myself that night with Transitions and Volker Winck. When that night was over, I wanted to have another beer and I met Juergen Friedrich, who is head of the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra out on the streets, going to his hotel. I suggested a drink to him, so we went into the awesome pub “Alte Heuwaage” in Gütersloh. It did not take long for Fredrik Lundin and the guitar player Krister Jonsson to enter. The night went quite long and we had great fun. So I suggested to Fredrik to repeat that night and invited him to play with me at the Farmhouse Jazzclub in Harsewinkel and luckily he agreed :)

Concerts will be on the 16th of February at 8 pm and the 17th of February at 12 pm. Hope to see you all!
